Google Ad Words - Instant Internet Marketing Results![]() |
Google Ad Words, the Hidden Pay Per Click Search Engine. This week, we’re going to talk about one of the most exciting developments in Internet Marketing since we’ve been in business.
Let me explain this headline… If you’ve spent any time on the Internet at all, you know about Google. It’s the 5th most visited web site on the internet, it uses the most advanced crawling search engine spiders and ranking algorithms on the net, and it is responsible for 35% of our Home Based Business income.
So, why would I call it the “Hidden Pay Per Click Search Engine?” Let’s take a look.
If you done any Pay Per Click Advertising, you know about Overture. Overture was the first and is considered the biggest Pay Click SE around. It’s also the most expensive. Still, savvy Internet marketers know that careful Overture use can generate yummy profits for just about any e-commerce or even affiliate strategy.
Because Overture is so saturated in the marketplace, AND because it offers the Search Term Suggestion Tool for Supply and Demand Research, most folks consider it the end all be all pay per click.
Enter Google.
Besides Google’s incredible amount of traffic and target searches, it has also been an innovator in search engine ranking for the last 18 months. It’s search engine algorithms are so good that Yahoo!, the MOST visited site on the web, uses Google to generate it’s own Search Engine results.
Now, Google has entered the Pay Per Click market, with a new, and I must say very interesting bidding model.
Google Ad Words
Google Ad Words are Google’s version of sponsored listings. If you’ve probably seen them before, they are the little mint green colored ads that appear down the right hand side of Google’s Search Results pages.
Comparing Google’s bidding model to Overture’s bidding Model. When you bid for a keyword or keyword phrase on Overture, you bid for a position in one of Overtures Partner sites, plain and simple. If the top bid for the keyword phrase “laptop computer” is 1 dollar, you can simply bid 1 dollar and 1 penny and find yourself in the top position.
Every time someone clicks on your Overture Powered Search Result, you pay 1 dollar and 1 penny.
Now, Google approaches things a little bit differently… And we’ve found the results to be really exciting!
Here’s how Google works. The first bit of sunny news is that Google’s minimum bid is only 5 cents. Overture minimum bid is 10 cents, and the rumor is that it will be climbing to 15 cents in the next 3 to 6 months.
The second bit of sunny news is that your bid may not always determine the position that your add appears in the Google Search engine.
Huh?
Okay, I know that might sound strange, but read on friend – you’ll soon see that this bidding model can mean much lower pay per click advertising costs for your business.
Google’s PPC model is built to reward the number of clicks an Ad word gets by improving the position of the Ad word in the Google Search Results.
It works like this.
Let’s say that you create a Google Ad word for Cat Tree. You bid 6 cents for placement, and you write a really dynamite little ad that folks will love to click on.
Now, your competition is bidding 10 cents for the First Place Bid position. So, AT FIRST, their ad for “Cat Tree” is placing higher than yours.
But…
Over time, you add is getting 2 times as many clicks per 1000 views than the competitor that paid 10 cents.
So, what does Goggle do? We’ll, they figure that since your ad is generating more income for Google than your competitor’s ad is, they are going to give you a little bonus and place you in front of your competitor.
You see, Google looks specifically at how many times an ad is clicked on every time the ad is viewed. So, let’s say that for every 1000 searches for Cat Tree in Google, your ad is clicked on 25 times. That’s a click through rate of 2.5 percent. That means that you’ve paid $1.50 in click charges.
Now, let’s say that your competitor has received 10 clicks for every 1000 searches for “Cat Tree”. That’s a click through rate of 1.0 percent. So, for the same amount of impressions, they have paid $1.00
To Google, your Ad is more profitable to them per 1000 impressions, so they REWARD you by placing you higher in the Ad Word search rankings!!! The hope is that because your ad is placed higher, you will generate even MORE revenue for Google by receiving more clicks.
What’s the key? Writing Good Google Ad words. You simply need to write a Google Ad word that’s going to get more clicks than the other Google Ad words and you’ll end up with higher positions and cheaper traffic.
Cool, eh? We think so. It’s also been very profitable. Let’s take a look as some other advantage of Google Ad words over other traditional Pay Per Click Search Engines…
1) As I said earlier, Google’s Minimum Bid is a nickel. Score one for Google!
2) Google gets 7-10 times more searches than Overtures does. More traffic cheaper.
3) It takes about 5 minutes for your Google Ad Word to appear in the listings. As an Overture advertiser that spends nearly $1000 a month on Overture Pay Per Clicks, I know how frustrating it can be to wait for a Human Editor to look at my Overture ad, then look at the site that it’s promoting, and then wait for a editorial decision whether or not they will run my Overture Ad. This process usually takes 3 to 5 days.
Google doesn’t do this. A Google Ad word is subjected to Goggles’ highly relevant search filters, and as long as you observe the Google Ad Word Rules, your Ad Word can end up being listed 5 minutes after you submit it.
4) Start-Up Fees. Google Charges 5 bucks to start your Ad Word Account. Compare that with the minimum $50 dollar deposit that Overture requires. Now, let me just warn you, the 5 dollar Google charge does NOT apply towards your click charges. But if you want to inexpensively test Google Ad words, 5 bucks is an easy expense to handle.
5) Excellent Budget Management. Google allows you to set exactly how much money you’d like to spend on your Ad Word campaign per day. If you want to spend a dollar a day, just tell Google to stop running your Ad Words when your expenses reach a buck. Then, the next day, the account re-sets and your Ads are back up. Talk about getting a handle on your advertising budget.
6) Direct Affiliate Program Linking. I’ll tell you a little success story. Google let’s you put an affiliate link directly into a Google Ad word. So, if you’re an affiliate marketer, or use affiliate programs to supplement your income, Google can make this process, especially the testing part, very simple and effective.
Back to our story. Audrey found some very underdeveloped niches in Google. In fact, there was NO ONE bidding on the keywords for that niche. So, she placed some Ad Words that linked directly to the site that we are an affiliate of. 5 minutes later, we saw click activity, and 5 hours after that, we had made an affiliate sale.
We calculated our Google Ad word expenses and found that after we are paid the commission from the affiliate program that we promoted, we will have doubled our money. 5 hours to double our money. Five.
And the 7th and what we think is the most important and exciting feature of Google Ad words…. There is significantly LESS competition for key word phrases in Google than there is in Overture.
Yep. I know it sounds crazy.
With Google’s much larger traffic and exposure, we are still finding that most of the keyword phrases that we’re bidding on in Google are nearly 50% less than they are in Overture. The only explanation that I can think of for this disparity is because Google simply doesn’t advertise Ad words as heavily as Overture AND their bidding system is confusing to most folks. And because a confused mind says “No”, folks simply don’t use Ad words as much as they ought to.
As of last month, we have re-allocated 50% of our advertising budget away from traditional Pay Per Click Search Engines and placed them squarely into Google Ad Words. And 50% of that budget will be allocated towards Direct Link Affiliate Marketing. That’s how strongly we feel about the potential of Google Ad Words – we’re willing to use half of our budget to test our initial, positive findings.
So, take a look at Google Ad Words. With its near instant traffic, liberal editorial policy, reward for performance placement, lower minimum bid and direct link affiliate marketing, we think Google is going to become a primary source of paid advertising for our company.
Here’s a tool that can super charge and stream line your Google Ad Word research, and do half a dozen other tremendously useful Supply and Demand research functions. We’ve talked about the Market Matrix before, but with the latest upgrade to this software, we MUST talk about it again.
Jon Wittwer is a PhD candidate in Engineering, and quite the programmer, I might add. Jon created the Market Matrix in order to automate the process of Supply and Demand research for e-commerce owners, affiliate marketers, and eBayers.
He created a Macro Program that runs right in Microsoft Excel that allows you to plug in 10 keywords at a time and automatically return Supply and Demand results using the webs most powerful research tools.
Using the “Cat Tree” example, we can use the Market Matrix to automatically search Overture’s Search Term Suggestion Tool, the Yahoo! Shopping Network, eBay Stores, Google and Google Ad words simultaneously!
In about 30 seconds the Market Matrix will give real supply and demand numbers for each one of those categories, Graph the results, suggest alternative and related Keywords, and in terms of Google Ad Words, tell us how many ads there are for that Keyword.
Can you see the possibilities here? If you want to quickly investigate a niche, you can use the Market Matrix to identify High Demand search terms, and at the same time know how many folks are using Google Ad Words to get a slice of that demand.
Awesome!
Look, Audrey has done over 3,000 manual Supply and Demand exercises in the last 12 months. We know this number because we have the receipts from Word Tracker and we print out all of our Overture Search Term Suggestion Tools results and file them for future use.
Audrey did 400 Supply and Demand exercises this weekend with the Market Matrix. And because the Market Matrix runs in Microsoft Excel, you can simply and easily export the results to a separate spreadsheet, where we can then keep track of our expenses and profit from those keywords!
Talk about fast earning potential! You could spend an hour using the Market Matrix finding a little undiscovered niche. Once you find it, head on over to one of the Affiliate Networks and become an affiliate of a company that sells products in that niche. Then place your clever Google Ad Word with your affiliate link built in, activate your campaign, and Boom – you might find yourself multiplying your Google Ad Word investment in a short time.

Just so you understand, this is a new development in pay per click advertising and affiliate marketing. It’s one of those rare moments in the history of the Internet where a marketing and money making technique hasn’t been used to anywhere near it’s fullest potential. And it’s working so well that it’s becoming a primary source of income for some Internet marketers.
We’d like to take credit for this discovery, but we can’t - we’ll just profit from it. We read a fantastic book called Google Cash by Chris Carpenter, which showed us exactly how to look for the niches, use direct link affiliate marketing, and write clever ad for Google Ad Words. Besides the great information in this book, Chris also offers his personal email address for coaching you through the Google Ad Words process. Giving that kind of attention to a customer goes a long way with us.
Take a look at Chris’s site, and pay special attention to some of the earnings he gives.
Yummy!
I realize this was a long newsletter, but this is an important development in Internet Marketing. Please give some serious thought and consideration into Google Ad words, the Market Matrix and Google Cash. If I had to bet, the combination of these tools will make a huge impact on how successful Home Based Business advertise and diversify their income.
