Here's the latest development from one of the kings of the search engines...

While I was studying today (Yes, I still study this business, every Sunday from 2 to 6) I came across some information in one of the private membership forums I actively post in.

There is a NEW shopping search engine service, and your should definitely have your Yahoo! Store listed there, as soon as you possibly can.

It’s from Google. How bout that?

The new Shopping Service is called Foogle Google and it’s just opened to the e-commerce store owners in the form of a Beta Release. In Andy Speak, it means it’s not quite ready for prime time, but they need store owners in their system to test it’s functionality.

In case you don’t know, getting involved with any public beta has a TON of advantages. Let me give you an example.

If you were experimenting with Search Engine Positioning back in the mid 1990’s, you’ll remember a time where you could get a NUMBER 1 Search Engine Position simply by spamming your keyword over and over again into your Meta Tags. Well, those days have long since passed, but…

There are still web sites that are holding HIGH positions in the search engines simply because they achieved high position 8 years ago. The Search Engines have “Grand Fathered” them into high positions back when they were in beta form.

Now, this doesn’t mean that we can just spam our store information to Froogle Google. But what it DOES mean is that your store will be in the rarified air of the “Early Adopters”. I’ve participated in nearly 30 beta tests in the last 5 years, and every single time, when the product went “Gold”, I was in an advantageous position.

Think about it. Have you heard of Froogle Google? Not Yet… Have you heard of Google? Sure. It’s the 5th most visited site on the internet. What’s that mean to you?

I would bet a months income that Google will advertise the dickens out of this service once it rolls out to the public. For us early adopters, being listed in their shopping search engine is going to mean more traffic, more sales, and more income.

Take a look at the information. Froogle Google wants merchants who want to be listed in the Shopping Service to send an e-mail describing their store. You will eventually need to set up what’s called a “Data Feed” to their network. Basically, it’s a comma delimited text file with some information about your product line…Go there for more complete instructions.

Okay, guess how much this is going to cost you.

No really, Guess.

Fine….. It will cost you Nothing.

Yummy.
